The Legend of Zelda Item Drop Algorithm

I first came across this interesting little tidbit from one of the Cleveland Game Developers. The kind of myths whispered about in the dark corners of the internet, but with the recent release of the Hyrule Historia I little more buzz started to generate around this little piece of game myth. Thats when someone showed me that Game Trailers did a recent video explaining the concept in clear term and dismissing any uncertainty in my mind that this is one of the coolest pieces of information from early gaming history. I think this is really more over an incredible nod to what it took to program efficiently and to program intelligently in a time when we couldn’t just drop inefficient and loose code into out modern overpowered systems.
